Is Entrupy authentication legit?

If you've shopped pre-loved luxury, you've seen "Entrupy verified" badges — and probably wondered what they mean. Entrupy is a technology-based authentication service used by resale businesses. Here's how its process works and what its guarantee does and doesn't cover.
What Entrupy is
Entrupy is a New York-based company that authenticates supported luxury goods using image capture and machine-learning models. Businesses like ours subscribe to use its system.
Entrupy analyzes captured product images using its authentication technology. On May 18, 2026, it announced a phone-based experience for supported bags and leather goods that no longer requires its dedicated lens attachment after migration. Earlier certificates may come from the previous device-based process; the capture hardware alone does not determine a certificate's validity.
How accurate is it?
Entrupy reports 99.86% accuracy in its 2026 State of the Fake report. That figure is Entrupy's own published measurement, not an independent guarantee that any authentication method is infallible. The system can return results such as Unidentified or Review in Progress rather than issuing an Authentic certificate.
Its analysis can reduce reliance on a seller's subjective visual assessment, but image collection, reference data, model limitations, and operational handling still matter.
The financial guarantee
Entrupy provides a one-year financial guarantee directly to the eligible licensee that generated the certificate, subject to its current terms and dispute process. Entrupy explicitly says retail buyers are not direct beneficiaries and must bring concerns to the seller; the seller remains responsible for any customer refund or other remedy.
What it doesn't cover
Entrupy supports specific brands and categories (major luxury houses like Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Gucci, and others). Items outside the supported list can't be Entrupy-certified — which is why honest sellers only claim it where it applies.
It authenticates the item, not its condition — condition assessment is still the seller's job, which is why we photograph every flaw.
A certificate belongs to a specific item. If a listing shows a certificate, the item shipped should be the item certified — buy from sellers who photograph the exact piece.
Entrupy's financial guarantee is non-transferable, generally expires one year after certification, and is subject to exclusions in its current terms.
How Gaby's Bags uses Entrupy
We're an Entrupy Verified Business. Eligible luxury pieces are scanned before they're listed, the certificate is linked to the specific item, and our own team reviews every piece regardless of brand. Contemporary new-with-tags items (Michael Kors, Kate Spade, Tory Burch, Coach) are sourced directly from the brands and aren't described as Entrupy-certified unless the product page says so — supported-category luxury gets the scan.
